Saturday Snapshots

It's has been a beautiful, windy day here in south Texas, but still HOT!

So, I am inside :)

I am wrapping my mind around tidying up the house for a get-together we are having this weekend.

It isn't that I don't want to do it.   I am just kind of pre-occupied.

I went for a job interview this week!  Yay!!  Gotta wait and see, now.  Don't get me wrong.  I won't be terribly heartbroken if I don't get it, but it seems like a good work environment with good, friendly, people doing good things for others.  I would love to be a part of that.  Plus, the process seems very similar to my experience.  Seems like a good fit, you know?

I cannot beleive I am saying this after being foot loose and fancy free for almost 4 years, but I am really looking forward to a schedule and a challenge and...yeah...a paycheck too. ha!

So, I have not done a Saturday Snapshots post in a while.  It's Wednesday, but what the heck.

We have been having smoothies every morning for breakfast, so we decided to have our favorite - bacon and eggs - on Saturday morning.

Jake and Maggie love bacon!  They don't have to beg long.  How can I resist this face??

Little did I know Ronnie has been thinking a lot about sprucing up the curb appeal of our little studio.  It still looks very much like a commercial building on the outside.  The front is brick and the rest is siding.  We plan on replacing the siding...someday.

For now, though, Ronnie wanted to start with a little landscaping...here...

This is the front "yard" even though there is no grass.  Anybody out there have a concrete front yard, aka, a parking lot??  The fence there is the fence to the dog run and there is only about eight inches of space between the concrete and the fence.

We had no idea what we wanted to do or what would even grow in there, so we headed out to our favorite nursery here in town, Second Nature.

We spoke with a very knowledgeable young lady and we got these, Vincas (I think):

As we were coming back home we noticed a tiny kitten trying to cross the busy highway.  We pulled over and tried to catch it, but it was too wild and too fast.

This sweet young man on a motorcycle even stopped to help us.  He had just returned from Afghanistan a few weeks before.  Ronnie thanked him for his service and he said, "No problem, it was an honor sir."  I thought, "Awww" but then I thought about the recent incident with the American Idol contestant.  I try not to be cynical, though, and decided to take him at his word.  The kitty got away and the Motor-cycle GI went on his way.  We had supper with mom and then went to visit with Pam and Leo, Mel and the twins while they ate.

Then it was time!!

It was karaoke time.

I don't think Maggie liked it, though.

Oh, the despair. :)

But Jake...he got right in there and sang with us. (Please excuse the poor lighting.)

He sings so pretty!!  He's a "Supa Star"!!

What lucky folks we are.

Saturday Snapshots on Sunday

Wow!  In about 45 minutes it will be Monday!

"Slow down, Time!  What's your hurry???"

It was a really good weekend for us.

If you read about my terrible headache, then you will understand why I started my Saturday with this:

I did not wake with my headache but I sure did not want it to come back.  But, you know what?  The first sip tasted really different.  I drank about half of it and so far this weekend I haven't had a headache.

Not only that, but I felt really good, energy wise.

I really felt like cleaning.  How awesome is that???

Who the heck wants to clean on Saturday?  Definitely not the this girl.  But this Saturday was really different.  I happily cleaned the bathroom, washed the clothes, vacuumed and mopped.

Now, those are regular cleaning activities here at Casa Causpanic but they usually arent done with a smile. ha!  This extra little bit of energy is nice.

Ronnie had some alone time with the Kindle while I went to spend the afternoon with my Mama.

Salad and a green smoothie makes him smile.

Don't you just love that in almost every picture of my hubby he has a bandana on?  NO?  Me neither!

I didnt let him wear his bandana on his head for our Christmas picture, but we did incorporate that part of him by putting one on all the dogs.  They liked it just as much as he does.

Speaking of the dogs...

They are the sweetest beggers.  Maggie will eat anything.  She loves popcorn and crackers.  She eats almost any veggie that might fall on the floor.  Jake, on the other hand, is a little more particular.  Not a very good picture of him as you can hardly see his face.  You can barely see the white on his muzzle if you look real close.  Closer.  A little bit closer.  You see it??

The weekends always get us.

Yep.  It was my fault.  I heard Pizza Hut calling my name.  Ugh.   We tried to justify ordering the dang pizza by adding vegetables - onions, black olives and mushrooms.

Oh...you say those really dont count as vegetables????

Yeah, I know.  Back to the ol' drawing board tomorrow.  I think this week we will start with a green juice, then have our smoothie, just to see if I notice any changes.

As for now, I just want to say how very thankful I am for a wonderful weekend.  We hit a couple of bumps in the road so far this year, but God is good and He never lets go of us.  For this I am grateful.

May God bless your upcoming week with joy, peace and love!!

Saturday Snapshots

As you will be able to tell, we had a pretty lazy Saturday.

Plenty of TV...

...and food.

A little bit of work...

 and a little more food.

Note to self:  have we been eating a little too much fried foods??

And a little more TV to close out the day.

Our Jakey-Madillon has developed an aversion to the text notification on Ronnie's phone.  Every time he gets a text, Jake begs to go outside.

He's a little nutty, but oh so sweet!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

May your week ahead be full of blessings!

Saturday Snapshots - 26 March

We were kinda bummed out this weekend, as we had planned on going to San Antonio for the weekend, but reno stuff kinda kept us tied up.  The good news, though, is that Boo-Boo(really, I don't know his real name) and Colton made us some crawfish!

  • Ronnie loves their mud-bug cooker.  It is pretty nifty.
  • Cooker...check, mud bugs...check, scoops and ladles...check.  Here's a tip...I understand that adding ice to the boiling hot water makes the crawfish juicier.  I don't know if it is true, but I CAN say they were juicy and tasty!
  • Baby Girl loves to have her picture taken and of course I love to take it as I think she is precious.
  • My old bosses threw many a crawfish boil with red taters and corn, but these guys also made cauliflower.  I'm not a cauliflower eater, but everyone said it was really good with all the spices.
  • Everyone had seconds and thirds after some "resting"
  • A little turtle came all the way from Louisiana with the crawfish.  He is now a resident of a local creek.
  • Honey Boy would not put his corn down even to play!
  • Boo-Boo and Colton did so much work and had a good time while they did it.  We are enjoying having Colton in the family and his friend Boo-Boo.
  • My old boss tagged Ronnie as the Crawfish Terminator.  Here he is a-terminatin'!
  • Alex smiled for his photo op with his mom and Grandma, but Honey Boy...not so much.  He is such a little booger!  I could just squeeze him to pieces...that is, if he would stay still long enough for me to catch him.
  • Michael's birthday is Monday the 28th, but mud bugs on Saturday was a great prelude.

Weekend is over now...back to the grindstone.  Have a good 'un, as Ol' Dawg would say.

Saturday Snapshots

I really look forward to getting snapshots for Saturday Snapshots (SS).  Sometimes I just go through my day, not really paying attention to the moments.  SS reminds me to pay attention and enjoy.  But, sometimes, on Saturdays we just veg.  And, that seems to be the norm lately.  One of those couch potato phases we go through every now and again.  But...then the time came for the birthday party. Yay!

Our niece, Christi, and our niece-in-law, Melissa both have a birthday on the 18th of March.  What a co-inky-dink, huh.  My nephews bar-b-qued some beef and chicken fajitas with all the trimmings.

So, as I wipe the sweat off my brow saying, "Whew", I thank Christi and Mel (as we call her) for this installment of Saturday Snapshots!

  • The twins helped their Aunt Christi and Mom with their candles.
  • We tried to get a nice picture of Christi with her goof ball brothers, but...
  • The last one of all three of them isn't bad...if you don't take into consideration that the boys look drunk.  They aren't.
  • The one in yellow has a birthday on the 28th!

It's hard to believe I used to baby sit them!  I used to bribe them, too.  They would get a snow cone if they would sit down and watch TV for an hour so I could take a nap.  They say they always did it and rarely got snow cones.  I seem to remember many a trip to the Snow Wiz, though.  Plus, we all know they wouldn't have sat still if they never received their reward.  That is for sure!

Saturday Snapshots

Usually, in real life, I like to keep things on a positive note.  But, in reality, I have little bouts of negativity every once in a while.  That being said, I don't like to concentrate on negativity.  I feel so ungrateful when I indulge in negativity because we really do have a wonderful, blessed life. But...every once in a while things don't go my way and I get in a bad mood and I just wanna be grouchy and negative.  So there it is...the truth...real life...the good, the bad and the ugly.

Saturday started out good enough.  I woke up from a dream of playing football with Richard Davis (Trademark Properties and creator and star of Flip This House) with a plastic bottle as the ball.  Like many of my dreams, I have no idea what prompted that one, but I enjoyed it 'cause I loved watching Flip This House and I like Richard Davis, his work ethic and his management style.  But Saturday went downhill from there.  We did absolutely nothing.  Well, we did one thing...we went to Sutherland's...and it was just a source of frustration.

  1. Lacey came in for a while today.
  2. As did Maggie.  Poor baby could use an face washing.
  3. Mom took the opportunity to get out in her back yard to check out Ron's handiwork.  He cut the yard (he isnt picking his nose there.  No, really.  I it seems like something a guy with a red bandana on would do, but he wasn't...not this time, anyway), cleaned up the leaves and ran the weed eater (ok, ok, the truth is I did absolutely nothing Saturday...and so far, Sunday, too).
  4. Jake and Ron took a nap...shocker, right.  Jake is so cute when he begs.  He puts his chin on your leg and rolls his eyes up at you as if to say, "Please".
  5. We are defensless to this ploy.
  6. Sutherland's had a one day, 15% off sale this Saturday.  I thought we had decided that we would get two vanities with a cabinet in the middle, since my counter top is always messy and Ronnie's is always tidy - he doesn't want to have to deal with my clutter.  I thought we had decided on those new half vanity cabinets with the full sink.  So, anyway, I got showered and dressed and we headed out, only to find out once we got there that Ron has reservations about the vanities.  Ugh.  These little vanities are nice and they were $147 minus 15%!  For my fellow Aggies, that works out to approximately $125, $250 for two.  About half of what we would pay at the big box stores and about the same amount we would pay for a full 60" vanity without the sinks!  I wasn't mad that he didn't like the idea of the two half cabinets, I was was just mad that we wasted our time!  Don't waste my time.  I'll beat you up! ha.
  7. It's enough to drive us to drinking...not a very long drive there lately, though :D  That is where the pictures stop because nobody thought to take a picture of my pouty, grouchy self.
  8. In my defense...my thoughts are that we/guests use those vanities for a matter of minutes at a time, at the most.  Why spend a lot of money on them?  Why not economize there and put the extra toward one of those beautiful stainless oven hoods?  Don't you love that oven hood????  Back to my point...or toward some granite counters?? Or toward and awesome fridge??? Or toward a favorite of his...guns, or a favorite of mine...Temptations cookware, Creative Memories supplies, clothes...shall I go on? I thought not.

Eventually, I took a nap got over some of my grouchy-ness...kinda.

Do you ever have Saturdays, or weekends like that...where you are just plumb grouchy?  Please tell me I am not the only one!

Hopefully, though, this weekend was great for you!  We here at Casa Causpanic are wishing you much love, happiness, joy and fun for the coming week!  Love ya!

Saturday Snapshots...

...on a Monday Tuesday.

  • Jake is our bacon hound.  He loooooves bacon.  Isn't he so beautiful and shiny????!! Ok, ok, I am a little biased.
  • Oh the amount of concentration (and coffee) it takes to make a video :D.
  • Wal-Mart.  Add dog food to that picture and that is the sum of our purchase.  I looked for some cheap inexpensive, cute, spring-like shoes, but to no avail.  I did find a cute black pair of boots with a perfect heel for me for $7!!  I didn't buy them, though.
  • Gas on Saturday was $3.38/gallon.  I cant believe we are even seeing those numbers!  I am so glad Ron is not working in La Porte anymore...even from Dickinson, that price would've hurt.  Ouch!
  • Mmmmm, fresh green beans, rice and chicken.  I told Ronnie we were gonna have gravy with our rice.  I pulled the ol' bait and switch and tried to pass off cream of mushroom soup as gravy.  He said, "Booo"!

Really hoping this next week holds some progress on the studio for us!  So far, none.

Other than that, this week starts the Lenten season for us...one of my favorites times of the year.  I have been thinking a lot about what I want to give up for Lent.  In the past, I have "given up" things just because I thought I had to give something up for Lent.  But, as I grow older I realize more and more that I can give those things up and offer them as prayers and sacrifice for things like world peace, life, forgiveness, as an offering for those in Purgatory, or for those bound by addiction and for the many other things that plague our world today.  I look forward to this time of prayer and reflection, preparing for Easter.

What about you?  Is Lent a part of your faith?  If so, do you give anything up for Lent?  Cokes, chocolate, tv, computer time :O.  That might be pushing it! Ha-ha, just kidding!

Take care, thanks for stopping in and hope to see ya again soon!
