Our Anniversary Weekend

We had a little get together this past Saturday, for two reasons.

Reason # 1:  Friday, September 14th 2012 was our 10 year Anniversary!

Yay us!!

It was a nice day.

Actually, I was sitting here in my little corner of the sofa having my morning coffee in my favorite house pants and a white t-shirt.

I had not brushed my hair or anything (read as "I hadn't brushed my teeth either!").

Then there was a knock on the door.

"Oh crap!  Who could that be?"

Do you say that when you hear a knock on the door?

Usually, if I hear a knock on the door when I am not expecting anyone, I freeze or go hide in the bathroom.

This time, I froze.  Everything, but my eyes.

I waited.

They knocked again.

The dogs did a great job of barking out, "She cant come to the door!  She hasn't brushed her hair!  Or her teeth.  And believe us, you don't want to go there".

So, whoever was knocking left.

Now, all this time Ronnie was out on the riding mower cutting the empty lot next door.

Then to my surprise I hear his keys in the door.

Even more surprising...he was carrying the vase of 12 roses the florist was trying to deliver.

This picture was actually a reenactment of my surprise.

This is my favorite song about marriage this year:

After a massage for me we went to K-2 to eat dinner, too.  That was one of the places we used to eat all the time when we were dating.

But mostly, we were focused on getting ready for our little dinner we were going to host on Saturday.

Oh yeah...

Reason # 2 for a little get together:  Ronnie's 69th birthday!

We wanted more of a dinner with the people we love than a party.  Even some of Ronnie's family was able to be here!  Wow, our exterior could really use some work.  These are Ron's kiddos.  Rae came from near San Antonio, TX and Ronnie II came from Corpus Christi, TX

Here he is with two of his grand children.  No matter how long they all stay, it's never long enough.  We were so happy they could make it, though!

Gloria, my long time friend from childhood, and her husband made gumbo and roast and potato salad and green beans and rolls.  Oh my!!  It was so delicious.

You know us...we are all about the food. :)

My sister in law, Pam, made the awesome german chocolate cake.

Baby Girl did a much better job of singing this year than last year.  You can hear that here

At one point I just counted our blessings.

Everyone was full and happy.  The children were safe and having fun.  We had love and peace and joy.

Sweet!!

So, Sunday was Ronnie's birthday.

I drug my butt out of bed before 9 am and made it to breakfast with the kids and grandkids.

I would be stretching it to say I was awake.

We came home, watched the Texans kick some butt and then we just relaxed until time for Mass.

How bout you?  Any anniversaries or birthday?  Got any cajun food lovers out there?

What ever it is you love I hope you are happy blog friends!

Time

I came to a realization this past Thursday.

I miss my time.

Thursday was slow at work and I actually got home at about 6:15 or 6:20 as opposed to 7 pm.

It was a wonderful night.  I actually was able to enjoy dinner with our family.  I wasn't exhausted and my legs didn't hurt.  I guess that is the reason I slept so well that night, also.  I woke up so easy the next morning.  It was such a treat...especially my legs not hurting!!

Anyway.  WE had a really good weekend.

Mom spend the night last night.  I love that she does that even though we live in the same town.

The twins turned 5!!  Oh my goodness.  I cant handle it, haha.  They had a Hawaiian Luau Party.  Or was it a Tiki Party?  It was somewhere along those lines.

Happy Birthday, Michael!

Yesterday was my nephews birthday.

We went to K-2, the steak place in town.

I took my camera.

I had left it in the car and even went out to get it so I could take some pictures.

As I went to take my first picture I saw the warning..."Internal Memory Full".

Ugh!  I left my SD card in my netbook.

Hence, the lousy Android phone pics.

I actually had fun!

Usually, in these types of get togethers it seems impersonal, but last night was good.

And...I pulled off making a yellow cake with chocolate icing just two hours before the party was to begin.

I was a little nervous I would not make it, but I just kept putting thoughts of love into that cake.

I thought about the times when Mike was a little guy and would say things like, "Our going to the zoo tomorrow" instead of "we" are going to the zoo tomorrow.  Adorable.

I also remenisced on how much he makes us laugh.  We would never have good belly laughs were it not for him.

And then I concentrated on all the wonderful things I want for him in the coming year.  I pray he will be showered with nothing but good things.

Luckily, the cake baked, cooled and got iced very nicely!

Happy Birthday, Mikey!!  We love you!!

Saturday Snapshots

I really look forward to getting snapshots for Saturday Snapshots (SS).  Sometimes I just go through my day, not really paying attention to the moments.  SS reminds me to pay attention and enjoy.  But, sometimes, on Saturdays we just veg.  And, that seems to be the norm lately.  One of those couch potato phases we go through every now and again.  But...then the time came for the birthday party. Yay!

Our niece, Christi, and our niece-in-law, Melissa both have a birthday on the 18th of March.  What a co-inky-dink, huh.  My nephews bar-b-qued some beef and chicken fajitas with all the trimmings.

So, as I wipe the sweat off my brow saying, "Whew", I thank Christi and Mel (as we call her) for this installment of Saturday Snapshots!

  • The twins helped their Aunt Christi and Mom with their candles.
  • We tried to get a nice picture of Christi with her goof ball brothers, but...
  • The last one of all three of them isn't bad...if you don't take into consideration that the boys look drunk.  They aren't.
  • The one in yellow has a birthday on the 28th!

It's hard to believe I used to baby sit them!  I used to bribe them, too.  They would get a snow cone if they would sit down and watch TV for an hour so I could take a nap.  They say they always did it and rarely got snow cones.  I seem to remember many a trip to the Snow Wiz, though.  Plus, we all know they wouldn't have sat still if they never received their reward.  That is for sure!
